How to help babies to sleep better

Newborn infants normally sleep about sixteen hours for one day. But every parent knows, the thing is not that easy. Small tummies mean it’s mealtime every three hours. Spit-ups and other issues can easily disrupt sleep. And finding a routine can take several months. It’s no wonder that new parents spend so much time on considering their babies’ sleep!

Here are six good tips to help baby sleep better, hope they will release your anxiety as a new parent.

1. Comfortable environment

The sleeping environment should be comfortable. First of all, the light should be adjusted as dark as possible. The indoor temperature better maintains 20-25°C. Too thick quilt is not suggested. It might make babies sweat and feel hot to kick quilt. The room should be quiet so that baby can fall asleep quickly.

2. Stable Emotion

Better not play intense or excited games with your baby before going to bed. For example, let your baby calm down gradually before sleep. Avoid excited games and intense cartoons to enter into sleep easily.

3. Form a habit

Try to let baby get used to fixed sleeping timing and form a regular sleeping habit. In the long run, babies could fall asleep quickly.

4. Replenish nutrients:

If there is calcium deficiency baby will become excited, irritable and it is difficult to fall asleep. Even fall asleep will wake up frequently. In this case could replenish vitamin D and calcium. Bask in the sunshine regularly and make sure there is enough calcium inside baby’s body to promote sleeping.

5.Massage

When massaging parents could play some gentle music as well. If necessary can use moisturizing cream to massage baby’s head, chest, abdomen, etc. Normally babies will enter into sleeping quickly after massage.

6.Comfortable condition

Make baby in a comfortable condition before going to bed, like change a new diaper or drink some milk.

Lastly, If baby can not fall asleep through above mentioned methods, you need to consider whether the baby has physical discomfort. You can check whether there are mosquito bites and rash. If the baby has tapeworm disease, anal itching may occur at night. Better go to the hospital for examination, clarify the reason, and then ask for suitable treatment.
